Marquette General Diabetes Education is presenting an educational session titled “I don’t have diabetes, I just have high blood sugar” on Wednesday, May 7, from noon – 2 p.m., or 6 – 8 p.m. in Conference Room 1 at Marquette General Hospital.

The session is free and the public is invited to attend. Discussion topics include:

· First hour: Diabetes: It’s a numbers game. Featured speaker is Jody Bailey, RN, CDE, who will discuss the diagnostic criteria of pre-diabetes and diabetes, along with the goals for control and tools available to reach them.

· Second hour: Creative Meal Planning. Featured speaker is Sarah Balko, RD, CDE, who will discuss the basics of nutrition, including the what, where, when and how of food and blood sugar control, along with working in your favorite foods instead of eliminating them.

To reach the Marquette General Conference Center, park in Lot A on the corner of College Avenue and Hebard Court, enter the hospital through the East Entrance, take the elevator to the third floor and exit to the right. For those using the parking deck, take the skywalk across College Avenue, turn left in the corridor and follow signs to the Conference Center.
