The Marquette General Hospital Volunteers recently donated a Nustep recumbent cross trainer valued at $3,595 to the Marquette General Rehabilitation Department at Doctors Park Rehabilitation Services.

Cross Trainer donated to Rehab Services - Doctors Park

Kim Spranger, Director of the MGHS Physical Therapy program and Supervisor at Doctors Park said that the entire staff was pleasantly surprised about receiving such a gift.

“It speaks of the health system’s ongoing commitment to Delta County,” said Spranger. “The generosity of the Marquette General Volunteers will provide significant benefits to patients here in Delta County.”

The recumbent cross trainer is a safe, effective way to improve cardiovascular and overall fitness for people of all ages, including adolescents and seniors. The machine combines a natural sitting position with a smooth stepper to work all the major muscle groups. The new machine is also used to improve one’s energy level, muscle strength and tone, and helps control body weight.

“This piece of equipment is the solution for people who cannot get onto or tolerate conventional treadmills or stationary bikes. We have had many patiently requesting an aftercare program just so that they can continue on the Nustep,” said Spranger.

The Nustep is a great complement to the comprehensive outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapies available at Doctors Park. This includes specialized care in the areas of industrial rehabilitation, hand therapy and Mckenzie Certified therapy for the spine.

The Marquette General Hospital Volunteers raise thousands of dollars each year to purchase equipment and amenities for the benefit of patients in the hospital and clinics throughout the region. Funds are raised through the hospital gift shop, the Grounds Abound Coffee Shop and a basket auction.
