Employees with 10, 15 and 20 or more years of service were also acknowledged at the dinner.
Mary Lee Kirkum has worked at MGHS since 1981 and is a radiographer/mammographer for Marquette General Radiology. She has 12 years of experience working with her dogs as therapy partners for the Upper Michigan Dog Therapy Partnership, a program that allows dogs to visit patients at Upper Peninsula health care facilities. She is active in the community serving as a church greeter, a judge for the Fourth of July parade in Marquette and a counselor at Bay Cliff Health Camp. Kirkum volunteers her time with the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, and with youth groups at the Gwinn and Marquette public libraries. She has been on the Marquette General Employee Relations Committee for numerous years, serving as secretary and vice chair. She has also been MGHS Employee of the Month.
Linda Hague has worked at MGHS since 2004 and is a registered nurse for Marquette General Home Health & Hospice - Escanaba. Recently, Hague rendered first aid to a motor vehicle accident victim, providing support until Emergency Medical Services arrived. Once the victim was transferred to the ambulance, Linda comforted the driver of the vehicle that hit the victim, since they were badly shaken by the events. Also, as the wife of a local minister, Hague provides individuals in the community the gift of her time and compassion. She is active in the home schooling community and also houses a foreign exchange student from Korea.
Bonnie Marenger has worked at MGHS since 1994 and is a clinic LPN for the Marquette Medical Clinic - Escanaba. She is active in the local Boy Scouts of America organization, where she is in charge of fundraising, and serves as a mentor for the 4-H group. Marenger routinely assists with blood drives and sports physicals in the community. She’s also involved with the Relay for Life cancer walk, and walks in memory of her brother who lost his life to cancer last year.
MGHS President and CEO A. Gary Muller, FACHE, said the award-winners exemplify the quality and diverse talents of MGHS employees.
“We’re fortunate to have many employees who care not only for our patients, but also care about their local community,” said Muller. “This year, we’re proud to honor Bonnie, Linda, and Mary for extending their talents and gifts beyond the walls of our organization.”
Since 1998, MGHS has honored and recognized three outstanding citizens, who are selected from each of three categories: Marquette General Hospital, Marquette General Home Health & Hospice and Marquette General’s clinic network.
