Chippewa Medical Associates celebrating Open
House
To celebrate its office expansion, Chippewa
Medical Associates in Sault Ste. Marie is having an Open House.
Chippewa Medical Associates is a clinic of Marquette General Health
System.
The event, scheduled to be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday,
Nov. 9, will offer people an opportunity to meet the staff, enjoy
refreshments and hors d’eurvres, and tour the new office.
According to Clinic Manager Chrissie Stanaway, three internal
medicine specialists — Drs. Theodore
Anuebunwa, Rozina
Parveen and Shmaila
Ishaq — and Dr.
Adnan Alkhalili, a medical oncologist, will be at the Open
House. All are board-certified internal medicine specialists;
Alkhalili is also board certified in medical oncology.
In addition, the Upper
Michigan Heart Institute at Marquette General will offer a
Pocket EKG Screening from 1 to 4 p.m.; the fee is $20. To schedule

Michigan Cancer Center and Marquette General Home Health-Sault
Ste. Marie will also have displays at the Open House.
“We’re really excited about our new facility,”
Stanaway said. “We’ve doubled our space. Our patients
will like the expanded waiting room area. We’ve already
received a number of nice compliments on that.”
The new facility, located in Suite 5 in the Avery Square at 510
Ashmun, features an International Council for Quality Care (ICQC)
system in which each physician has his/her own workstation, improving
the continuity of care. With the system, each physician has his/her
own exam room, nurse, support staff and records all within arm’s
length.
Chippewa Medical Associates offers an assortment of services that
deal with the diagnosis and treatment of non-surgical diseases
in adults.
“The new facility, we feel, will better serve our patients,”
Stanaway said. “We encourage the public to come to the Open
House and see our new facility.”
In January, cardiologist Dr. M. Tariq Vakani will join Chippewa
Medical Associates.
