MGHS shows support for Child Abuse Prevention Month

Candy Weber, Community Education Coordinator at Marquette General Health System, places a blue ribbon around a tree in front of the MGHS administrative building in Marquette in observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

A number of ribbons have been put up around the MGHS campus, drawing attention to child abuse in our country.

Three children die a day from child abuse, and 44 percent of those that die are infants under the age of 1.

The Blue Ribbon is recognized nationally as a symbol of child abuse prevention. The Michigan Children’s Trust Fund is encouraging individuals in Michigan to tie a blue ribbon to their car antenna, wear a blue ribbon on their lapel, or tie a blue ribbon around a tree or light post in their community to show support for this important cause.
