The Statewide Trauma Advisory Committee’s mission is to
write administrative rules for the State Trauma Plan that will
be submitted to the state legislature
by June 2006 to ensure infrastructure funding.
“This committee is a result of various efforts over the past 15 years among
state and local organizations, including the Michigan Trauma Coalition that Marquette
General Health System has served on since its inception,” said Bryers,
who has 32 years of EMS experience. “MGHS demonstrated commitment to
the management of trauma.”
The new Emergency Department/24-Hour Express Care Walk-In Clinic at Marquette
General will open in August.
Bryers is one of 10 people from the state appointed to the committee, which
has been divided into various workgroups consisting of 10 to 15 people.
Bryers will represent ambulance service directors from throughout the state
of Michigan.
“It’s an awesome and challenging responsibility,” Bryers said.
On the State Trauma Committee, Bryers co-chairs the Triage and Transport Workgroup
and the Trauma Education and Injury Prevention workgroup. MGHS surgeon Dr.
John Kosinski, medical director of trauma, serves on the verification, triage
and transport workgroup, while Dan Wolf, director of EMS at Marquette General,
is on the triage and transport group.
A native of Escanaba, Bryers attended Michigan State University and earned
a bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University. She pursued
graduate studies in business and finance.
Bryers serves as vice chair of the state EMS Coordinating Committee; sits
on the Baybank Board of Directors, the Upper Peninsula EMS Corporation Board
of
Directors, the Delta County Salvation Army Board of Directors and the Delta
County 9-1-1 Committee; and chairs the Delta County Local Emergency Preparedness
Committee and St. Francis Medical Control Committee.
Rampart EMS provides Advanced Life Support — pre-hospital and inter-hospital
emergency treatment and transportation — to victims of severe illness.
Rampart's Advanced Life Support Service area is all of Delta County, North
Menominee and Southern Marquette counties in the Upper Peninsula.
Rampart also owns Mercy Ambulance in the Copper Country and provides administrative
support to Greater Iron County EMS.
