Kindergarten students get sized-up for car seats

Vandenboom Elementary School kindergarten student Nick Young gets “sized-up” with the assistance of Sue Girard-Jackson, left, from Marquette-Alger SAFEKIDS, Diane Curry, center, from the Marquette County Health Department and Marquette General Health System EMS Paramedic/RN Gary Gustafson.

Waiting her turn is fellow student Michaela Johnson. All the students in Mrs. Jurasin’s kindergarten class were measured for height and weight to determine the car seat that would provide maximum protection in the event of a car crash. This was part of a classroom presentation in Marquette focusing on the importance of booster seat use for the 4- to 8-year-old age group.
