Lynn
Moon, left, chief volunteer officer of the Marquette General
Health System Volunteers, and Laurie Winkler, treasurer of the
Marquette-Alger County Medical Alliance, present checks to MGHS
Chief Executive Officer Bill Nemacheck to help defray the expense
of a proposed new blood mobile for the Upper Michigan Regional
Blood Center, based at Marquette General.

The MGHS Volunteers
presented the Marquette General Foundation with $3,700 with money
raised
from a blood mobile kick-off auction held at MGH. The Marquette-Alger
County Medical Society Alliance contributed $2,400 from funds
raised through a holiday raffle.
To date, more than $6,000 has
been raised
to help cover the costs of a proposed $100,000 blood mobile
that aims to improve and increase collection of blood donations
in
outlying areas.
The MGHS Volunteers, Moon said, are committed
to raising
$25,000 this year toward the blood mobile. “It is a very
worthwhile project that will benefit many communities and patients
across the Upper Peninsula,” Moon said. “The Volunteers
want to spearhead the purchase of this equipment, but we need some
help.”
