Public seminar by bariatric surgeon Dr. Wayne English April 26 at Grand View
An educational seminar on extreme obesity and surgical options available for weight reduction will be offered Thursday, April 26, at 6 p.m. CST in the conference area at Grand View Hospital.

Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Wayne English of the Marquette General Surgical Weight Loss Center will describe the types of weight loss surgeries, focusing on Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. He will also explain who meets the requirements for surgery, the guidelines patients must follow before and after surgery, and the lifestyle changes that are necessary following the surgery.
The presentation will also discuss the multidisciplinary team involved with each bariatric patent, and the importance of post-bariatric surgery support groups that are available throughout the Upper Peninsula via the Telehealth videoconference system.
