MGHS rehab
center to offer aquatic physical therapy at YMCA in Marquette
The
Upper Michigan Rehabilitation Center, a service of Marquette
General Health System, will begin offering
aquatic physical therapy services at the YMCA of Marquette County
facility located in Marquette on Tuesday, May 4.

Aquatic physical therapy, rehabilitation done in a heated pool
of water, is ideal for patients with weight-bearing difficulties,
neurological conditions,
pediatric concerns, rheumatic disease, myofascial syndrome and lymphedema.
During aquatic therapy, the water supports the body and reduces stress to
joints so patients can strengthen and tone their muscles while the injury
heals.
Aquatic physical therapy can increase:
· circulation
· strength and endurance
· range of motion
· Balance and coordinate muscle tone
MGHS physical
therapist Cathy Ruprecht will oversee the services at the YMCA
in Marquette.
With the addition of its Marquette site,
Marquette General now offers aquatic therapy at three locations:
PT Kelly Florenski oversees services at Doctors Park Rehab Services
in Escanaba (Delta County YMCA), while PT Jeannie Wagner provides
therapy at Sawyer Rehab Services, (South County YMCA).
A physician referral is required for aquatic therapy services. For more information,
call the Upper Michigan Rehabilitation
Center at 225-3186 or 1-800-562-9753,
ext. 3186.
