American Legion Auxiliary presents $1,000 check to MGHS Foundation, money earmarked to Family Birthing Center to purchase rocker/recliner.

The American Legion Auxiliary of Marquette has once again opened its heart to the Family Birthing Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Marquette General Hospital.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 44 has donated $1,000 to the Marquette General Health System Foundation, with the money directed to the NICU. With the funds, the NICU purchased a rocker/recliner, in photo, for the NICU.

Over the years, the American Legion has purchased a number of items and donated money — totaling close to $10,000 — to the FBC and NICU.

The American Legion is able to purchase gifts by collecting pop can tabs and selling them to a recycling center.
