AGES Celebrates Fifth Year – Summer Positions Available for UP High School Students

Summer paid positions for UP high school juniors and seniors are available with the
Area Geriatric Education Scholars (AGES) education and placement program.

AGES 2010 applications can be obtained at www.mgh.org/uphec and are due on April 30.  During the summer, students learn about healthcare careers caring for older people and geriatric health issues, healthcare technology.  Each student attends a three-day orientation in Marquette at Marquette General Health System and Northern Michigan University from June 16-18 (training/meal/housing costs are covered) and is then placed for seven weeks for
20 hours/week from June 21 – August 6 at a partnering nursing home in their home county.
At their  placement sites, students job shadow healthcare professionals, assist elderly residents and lead group activities.  Students may earn up to $1000 for the summer.
