Neurologist joins Marquette General Brain and Spine Center

Neurologist Dr. Brian MacFalda has joined Marquette General Neurology, a service of the Marquette General Brain and Spine Center, and Superior Health Partners. He joins Dr. Roman Politi, Dr. P.C. Gupta and Dr. Joav Kofman.

Dr. MacFalda comes to Marquette General from East Lansing, Mich., where he recently completed a fellowship in epilepsy and electroneurodiagnostics at Michigan State University and Sparrow Health System.

As a neurologist, Dr. MacFalda provides diagnosis and treatment for disorders of the nervous system: the brain, spinal cord and nerves. He treats conditions including muscle disorders, pain, memory loss, and Alzheimer’s Disease, epilepsy, neuritis, brain and spinal cord tumors, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, myasthenia gravis and muscular dystrophy.

Patients may need a neurologist if they are experiencing dizziness, seizures, black-outs, numbness, tingling, weakness, paralysis or lack of coordination. Those with diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure or cancer may also be referred to a neurologist.

Dr. MacFalda completed an internship, residency and fellowship in neurology at Sparrow Health System in East Lansing. He earned a medical degree at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also earned a master’s of business administration from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Mich. His undergraduate degree was achieved at Hillsdale College, in Hillsdale, Mich.

The addition of Dr. MacFalda is an example of how SHP is increasing access to quality care for Upper Peninsula patients.
