Marquette General Health System named one of “West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” by Michigan Business & Professional Association

Marquette General Health System has been named one of “West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For.” The award, presented by the Michigan Business & Professional Association, honors companies that recognize employees as their greatest asset. MGHS is the first company in the Upper Peninsula to achieve this honor.
“We recognize that our employees are the heart of our organization and the drivers behind our success," said A. Gary Muller, FACHE, MGHS President and CEO. "Being selected as “West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” validates our commitment to our employees who have stood strong and worked hard through the changes our organization made in the past two years. The overall success of our organization can be attributed to their hard work and dedication.”
An independent research firm evaluated each company’s entry based on key measures in various categories. They include Communication, Community Initiatives, Compensation and Benefits, Diversity and Multiculturalism, Employee Education and Development, Employee Engagement and Commitment, Recognition and Retention, Recruitment and Selection, Small Business and Work-Life Balance.
"Receiving this award is a honor for all of us. Marquette General is a great company to work for, and because of our hardworking and dedicated employees, an honor such as this was achieved," said Eric Williams, chair of the Marquette General Employee Relations Committee.
According to award organizers, only companies with the highest quality human resources initiatives can be named “West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For.” This honor is highly sought after by competing companies throughout the region.
The Michigan Business and Professional Association will honor the 101 companies on Thursday, May 6, at the Pinnacle Center in Grand Rapids.
The winning 101 companies also vie for 10 elite awards, one granted for each category, and an overall winner, who has excelled in all categories, will be honored with a “Best of the Best” award. The award winners will be announced during the luncheon.
Based in Warren, Mich., the Michigan Business & Professional Association is the largest business organization of small to medium-sized businesses in Michigan, representing more than 20,000 members who employ over 200,0000 persons.
