Bryers receives Michigan Extraordinary People/Extraordinary
Service EMS Leadership Award

Venetia Bryers, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rampart Emergency Medical Services (EMS), was selected as the recipient of the Extraordinary People/Extraordinary Service EMS Leadership Award from the Michigan Emergency Medical Services System and Trauma System.

The citation states that Michigan’s EMS and Trauma System appreciates the support and leadership Bryers has provided in supporting the implementation of a Statewide EMS and Trauma System.

The purpose of Michigan’s EMS and Trauma System is to establish criteria for identifying and categorizing the trauma resources of all hospitals in Michigan, and is responsible for the licensure and re-licensure of more than 700 life support agencies and over 2,400 life support vehicles.

With 33 years of experience in EMS operation and system development, Bryers serves as CEO for Rampart EMS, which is part of Marquette General Health System. Bryers also has responsibilities in the overall operations of Marquette General EMS and Mercy EMS in Hancock.

Bryers has been involved in EMS leadership roles at the statewide level for nearly 30 years. She has served as Vice-Chair of the Emergency Medical Services Corporation of Michigan for the past two years and has been a member of the Emergency Medical Services Coordination Committee since its inception. She provides input and leadership to this committee and the EMS and Trauma Systems Section.

In addition, Bryers serves as a member of the State Trauma Advisory Subcommittee and assisted in the development of the Administrative Rules. She serves as Chair of the Medical Control Authority Subcommittee and is committed to the provision of quality EMS care at all levels across the state.

Bryers received her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northern Michigan University. She completed graduate courses in business and financial management through Lake Superior State University.

Sentator Mike Prusi and Representative Gary McDowell honored the leadership recipients in attending the Lansing reception.
