Marquette General Cancer Center presents “Journey through Breast Cancer”
series in October

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Marquette General Cancer Center will present a four-part “Journey through Breast Cancer” series designed to educate the community, patients and their families about breast cancer. Topics will range from the diagnosis of breast cancer to treatment and surgical options available. Each part of the series will be presented by leading professionals who have expertise in specific fields of breast cancer.

The series will be held every Tuesday in October, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Marquette General Conference Center. CEU nursing credits are available. Please call 225-3500 for more information.

Part one of the series begins Tuesday, October 7 at 7 p.m. Women’s Imager, Dr. Safaa El Naggar, of Excalibur Medical Imaging and on staff at Marquette General Health System, will present on the various exams and tests used to diagnose breast cancer.

Part two of the series will be held Tuesday, October 14 at 7 p.m. General Surgeon Dr. Ryan Edwards, of Surgical Associates of Marquette, P.C., and on staff at MGHS, and Marquette General Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Dr. Michael Harl, will present on the surgical options available for treating breast cancer.

Part three of the series will be held Tuesday, October 21 at 7 p.m. Marquette General Radiation Oncologist Dr. Paul Thieme will present on the “What, When and Why of Radiation Therapy.”

Part four of the series will be held Tuesday, October 28 at 7 p.m. Marquette General Medical Oncologist and Hematologist Dr. Jorge Frank will present on the standards of care for breast cancer, including chemotherapy and hormone prevention.

The series is free and pre-registration is required. The community, patients and their families are encouraged to attend.

Each part of the series will be located in Conference Room Four at Marquette General Hospital. Attendees are asked to enter the hospital from the East Entrance canopy on College Avenue and take the elevator to the third floor and exit to the right.
