Marquette General Health System acquires Gwinn-Sawyer Medical Centers
Marquette General Health System has acquired Gwinn-Sawyer Medical Centers. The staff and locations will remain the same, and the practice name will change to Marquette General Medical Group – Gwinn and Marquette General Medical Group – Sawyer.
Dr. Catherine Kroll opened the practice in 1984 and Dr. Mary Tobin-Anderson joined the practice two years ago. Physician Assistant Kris Kivela has been with the practice for 10 years. Patients will continue to receive top-quality care to which they are accustomed. Dr. Kroll, Dr. Tobin-Anderson and Kivela, now employed by MGHS, will continue to see patients at the Gwinn and Sawyer clinics. It’s a national trend for primary care practitioners to be employed by a hospital. The time and expertise needed to run a practice is very time consuming because of business and financial documentation. Dr. Kroll, Dr. Tobin-Anderson and Kivela now have the ability to focus on improving the health of their patients free of those constraints.
“I’ve had a long standing relationship with Marquette General since I opened my practice. This acquisition provides additional operational resources for our staff, which in turn will provide greater benefits to our patients,” said Dr. Kroll.
MGHS will provide a seamless transition for patients of the Gwinn-Sawyer Medical Centers, and employees will remain and will become employees of MGHS.
In welcoming the Gwinn-Sawyer Medical Centers to MGHS, President and CEO A. Gary Muller, FACHE said, “Dr. Kroll, Dr. Tobin-Anderson and Kris Kivela have established an excellent reputation of providing healthcare in the Gwinn and Sawyer areas. This reputation is in sync with MGHS’s focus and mission. We’re pleased to have this high quality practice as part of our Health System.”
For information or to schedule an appointment, physicians and patients can continue to call the Gwinn-Sawyer Medical Centers at (906) 346-9275 (Gwinn) and
(906) 346-4924 (Sawyer).
