IS THE POISON CENTER’S PURPOSE?
To provide fast,
accurate information about poisons and drugs.
To provide the most up-to-date advice on emergency treatment for
poison exposures.
To educate the public as well as professional health care workers
in poison prevention and treatment.
WHAT
AREA DOES THE POISON CENTER SERVE?
Our regional
control center is located at DeVos Children’s Hospital, 1300
Michigan NE, Suite 203, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. The Poison Center
serves 65 Michigan counties, including all of the Upper Peninsula.
WHEN
IS SERVICE FROM THE POISON CENTER AVAILABLE?
The Poison
Center responds to all calls 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
HOW
CAN THE POISON CENTER BE REACHED?
The Center
can be reached by dialing 1-800-222-1222. If you dial the 1-800
number you will not be charged a long distance call.
WHO
ANSWERS THE CALLS AT THE POISON CENTER?

A board-certified physician toxicologist is available for consults
