HOME CHECKLIST

TIPS TO HELP MAKE YOUR HOME SAFE

GENERAL

Identify all houseplants, remove or place poisonous plants out of the reach of children and pets

KITCHEN

  • No household products under the sink
  • No medications on the counter
  • All cleansers out of reach of children
  • Poison Control Center phone number near the phone

BATHROOM

  • Medicine cabinet cleaned out regularly
  • All old medicines properly disposed of - call local pharmacy for advice
  • All medications are in safety containers
  • Proper lighting for appropriate reading of labels

BEDROOM

  • No medications on the dresser, chest or night stand
  • All perfumes and cosmetics up out of the reach of children
  • No flaking paint chips on windowsills, woodwork, cribs, playpen

LAUNDRY

  • All soaps, detergents, cleansers and bleach stored out of the reach of children and pets
  • Furniture and metal polish out of reach of children and pets
  • Drain cleansers in safety containers and LOCKED out of the reach of children and pets

BASEMENT/ GARAGE

  • Window open to provide good ventilation
  • Penetrating oil, paint, varnish, mineral spirits, stripper, soldering material, caulk, bug spray out of reach of children and pets
  • ANTIFREEZE, window cleaner, turpentine out of reach of children and pets
