Restaurants & Entertainment
We often hear
from folks who have visited or moved away from home how much they
crave their favorite Marquette restaurant lasagna, whitefish, blackened
pork chops, sub sandwiches, or some other specialty from one of
our unique dining establishments.
Marquette is
a city that cherishes and celebrates food!
Eating in Marquette
can be a gastronomic trip around the world. Try a thickly piled
pastrami on rye from a deli, the spanikopeta from a Greek pub; the
Peking Duck from the Chinese place; ostrich from a supper club;
the tortellini alfredo from one of many family owned Italian restaurants...and,
of course, the ubiquitous U.P. Cornish pasty (a hearty meat-and-potato
pie) from from several local eateries.
Dining out
in Marquette suits your every mood. Mostly a casual affair at our
local restaurants, you can still get "all dressed up"
at several fine dining establishments. You can cheer on your team
at a grill-your-own steakhouse or enjoy top touring live bands with
a hearth-baked pizza at a jazzy little nightclub.

Take-out delis,
coffee shops, bagel bakers and muffin makers each make their food
specialty something special indeed. (The MGHS cafeteria is well
known by employees as a favorite and affordable place to eat during
work!)
For home cooking,
Marquette has two mega grocery stores and numerous neighborhood
grocery and party stores. A local fish market features fresh catch
and imported fresh seafood. The local food co-op offers organic
and other natural foods while summer farmer's markets display just-picked
produce from local farms and orchards. Our region is also a berry-picker's
paradise, with wild blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and thimbleberries.
Whether going
out, taking out or dining in, you won't go hungry, or want for variety,
in the movable feast that is Marquette.
