Sarah Balko, RD, CDE
Manager, Diabetes Education

Sarah graduated from Northern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in dietetics.  She went on to complete her internship in nutrition through Central Michigan University.  Sarah started at MGH in 2001 as an Outpatient Registered Dietitian.  In 2006 Sarah became a Certified Diabetes Educator, and in that same year took on the role of Manager of Diabetes Education at MGH.  In addition to working with patients on their diabetes, Sarah ensures that the diabetes education program maintains State of Michigan Certification and ADA Recognition. 

Kimberly Sue Hantz, RD, CDE

Kim is a certified diabetes educator and registered dietitian with over 20 years of work experience. She has worked in a wide range of practice areas however states she has found her true passion in diabetes education. She is a certified insulin pump trainer on Animas, Medtronics, and Omni pod pumps, does continuous glucose monitoring studies, counsels persons individually and teaches a variety of diabetes self-management classes.  Kim can be seen at several MGHS clinics in Marquette County.

Ms. Hantz has a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Food Science from Michigan State University. Her internship was completed at University of Wisconsin-Madison Hospital and Clinics. She is a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the American Dietetic Association, the Vegetarian Nutrition Practice group and the Nutrition in Complementary Care Practice group.

Jody Bailey, RN, CDE

Jody graduated from Eastern Michigan University in nursing in 1984. In 1999 she joined the diabetes education team at Marquette General Hospital and became a Certified Diabetes Educator in 2000. She partners with individuals and support people in their lives to provide them with education, encouragement and empowerment to manage their diabetes. Jody is committed to the Marquette General Hospital’s Pediatric Diabetes Clinic and loves working with children, families and schools across the Upper Peninsula.
