The Division of Nursing is the largest group of healthcare
professionals at Marquette General Health System and I am
proud to lead these caring practitioners. The work environment
we have created here is one of collaboration devoted to the
provision of high quality patient care.
As a team, we set the standards staying abreast of the latest
trends in technology, supplies and equipment. Our nurses
sit on virtually every committee in the hospital assuming
the role of patient advocate and caregiver resource. Some
examples where nurses are vital contributors are: the Nurse-Physician
Workgroup created to air communication and systems issues
in a constructive venue; the Nursing Recruitment and Retention
Committee meets regularly to discuss methods to attract nurses
as well as retain our existing staff; the Nurse-Pharmacy
Workgroup makes strides to smooth processes that impact patient
safety and nursing efficiency.
Our nurses
come from all over the country attracted to the Upper Peninsula
by the pristine environment, reasonable cost of living and
a world-class hospital committed to nurturing their careers.
Our turnover and vacancy rates in nursing are well below the
national averages and our staff enjoys comfortable assignments
based on established nursing care hours per patient day and
skill mix developed collaboratively with the nursing staff
and management through the staffing committee.
On behalf of the Nurse Executive Team at MGHS we encourage
you to take a look at our nursing opportunities. Once you
have experienced the beauty and friendliness of Upper Michigan
and Marquette General Health System, you may never want to
leave.
