I am proud to have been a part of nursing at Marquette General for more than 20 years.

Throughout my career here in varying leadership roles, I have always been impressed with the sincere and caring attitude of our nurses.  Our on-going mission is to provide a high quality, compassionate, patient focused environment addressing needs across the continuum of care.

With approximately 600 RN’s and LPN’s, nursing accounts for about 23 % of the MGH workforce.  Through a change in organizational structure utilizing shared governance councils, our nurses have more input and leadership opportunities regarding decisions that impact the practice environment. In addition to the unit councils, the shared governance councils in place include practice, quality, education and research, and leadership. The goal of the shared governance councils is to focus on excellence, striving for best practice, best patient outcomes, and best practice environment.

Nursing at MGH is a dynamic field with opportunities in a variety of specialties such as obstetrics, NICU, ICU/CCU, cath lab, interventional radiology, endoscopy, cardiac, neurology, OR, emergency, orthopedics, and others.  We offer several professional development opportunities including a critical care internship program, on-site CRNA program, and generous tuition reimbursement.  Several schools of nursing utilize our institution for clinical rotations that give us many opportunities to mentor others.

It is an exciting time for patient care and nursing at MGH. We have many opportunities and projects planned in the coming year that continue to elevate the profession of nursing and our delivery of best patient care. I encourage you to see what we have to offer. The beauty of Upper Michigan and the friendliness of the staff at Marquette General combine to make it a great place to work.
