Nursing
today is a conscious decision to embrace the reality of a
fellow human being in need. It is the acceptance of people
regardless of stage or condition of life.
................ Joanne Gwinn, Surg
Now,
more than ever before, nurses have an opportunity to dramatically
impact patient's lives. No longer the "handmaiden"
of the past, today's nurses are on the forefront of technological
advances, without losing the element of caring that defines
nursing. Nursing is both a science and an art.
................ Amy Wilson (MGHH-Esc)
We
offer our neighbors an environment where they are free to
express their needs and concerns. We respond in a way that
gives comfort, hope, and a sense that humankind is larger
than our individual small worlds.
.............. Laura Elwell (IMCU/Cardiac)
Accolades
(Surgical)
“ Recently, I was a patient on your unit, recovering
from surgery by Dr. Raymond. While the Surgical Unit has the
reputation among we nurses for being a great place to work,
I had never experienced it as a patient or talked to very
many who had. I received very good care and of course, now
hear from person after person about his or her positive experience
on the unit. For me, the emphases is on the word “care.”
Each intervention was delivered with such a positive attitude.
You all seemed to work well as a team, that doesn’t
happen by accident. Thank you again for turning a dreaded
experience into a fond memory.”
