SPECT
(Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography)
looks at how the brain works.
SPECT
imaging reveals the function of the brain rather than its structure.
SPECT uses a rotating camera to take pictures of sections of the brain,
and displays them on a computer. The pictures can show areas of
reduced blood flow to the brain, which are related to reduced brain
activity.
SPECT can be used to diagnose:
* Memory
loss due to problems with blood vessels
* Traumatic
brain injuries
* Stroke
* Alzheimer's
