SPECT
(Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography)

looks at how the brain works.

SPECT imaging reveals the function of the brain rather than its structure.

SPECT uses a rotating camera to take pictures of sections of the brain, and displays them on a computer. The pictures can show areas of reduced blood flow to the brain, which are related to reduced brain activity.

SPECT can be used to diagnose:

* Memory loss due to problems with blood vessels

* Traumatic brain injuries

* Stroke

* Alzheimer's disease
