Kevin F. O'Brien Health Sciences Library

About Our Library

The Kevin F. O'Brien Health Sciences Library was established in July 1974, combining the St. Luke's School of Nursing Library with a comprehensive collection of medical, allied health and nursing texts and journals.

Dr. Kevin F. O'Brien a Marquette hematologist, was the organizing force behind the development of the Library.  After Dr. O'Brien's death, in a Lake Superior boating accident, his colleagues at Marquette General named the library in his memory.  The commemorative plaque in the Library states "The Kevin F. O'Brien Library dedicated October 1, 1974, in memory of Kevin F. O'Brien, M.D., whose knowledge, dedication and perseverance will inspire many to share his selfless commitment to others."
