Afternoon Shift

The MGHS Laboratory has a fully staffed afternoon shift, which provides coverage in all areas of the laboratory.

The bulk of the work on the afternoon shift is the processing and testing for the MGHS Reference Laboratory accounts, in addition to providing stat and routine testing for inpatient, the MGHS Emergency Department, and Superior Walk-In specimens from 3:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.

The Afternoon Shift Supervisor is responsible for the operation of the laboratory during this time. Questions concerning testing or specimen requirements should be directed to the Specimen Room or the Afternoon Shift Supervisor between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Midnight Shift

The Laboratory at Marquette General Hospital is open for both inpatient and outpatient services 24 hours a day. The Night shift is available from 11p.m. to 7 a.m. to perform testing in limited areas of the lab as well as answer any questions you may have.
Our primary focus is STAT testing and to provide a continuum of care for inpatients as well as providing services to other clinics and hospitals in the area.

Besides performing STAT testing in hematology, chemistry and coagulation, the night shift is also available to perform limited testing in microbiology, serology, and special chemistry. We are also responsible for helping to maintain much of the instrumentation in the laboratory and performing Quality Control checks.
