The Specimen Processing Department is the hub of activity at the MGHS Laboratory. The section is responsible for all the phlebotomy and specimen processing. The area collects and separates specimens and also enters all specimens into the laboratory computer system. The Specimen Processing Department controls specimen storage before and after testing, and is responsible for the packaging and requesting of specimens sent to other reference laboratories. The area also dispenses supplies provided by the MGHS Laboratory for collection and/or transportation to the laboratory. The Specimen Processing Department is regularly inspected by the JCAHO. All questions concerning testing, specimen requirements, and specimen transport, can be directed to the MGHS Laboratory Client Service Representatives, Specimen Processing, or the Specimen Processing Supervisor. |
