  | Draw blood into light protected lavender top evacuated tube, following an overnight fast. Patient must be restricted from alcohol and vitamins for at least 24 hours before a sample collection, keep the whole blood refrigerated and protect from light. The separation of cells must be completed within 6 hours. Separate cells by centrifugation at 2-8 C (2200-2500 rpm, 800-1000g) for 5-10 minutes. If no refrigerated centrifuge is available, chill specimen at 2-8 C before centrifugation. Transfer plasma to dark brown polypropelene or plyethylene transport tubes to protect from light. Alternately, neutral color polypropylene or polyethylene tubes can be used if wrapped in aluminum foil. Freeze the tubes at -10 to -30 C. Ship frozen. Patient follows an overnight fast, and restricted from alcohol and vitamins for at least 24 hrs. -70 Degrees: 6 Weeks stability |
