Collection Info

  Submit one of the following specimens:

Plasma

Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s) or a yellow-top (ACD) 
tube(s). (Thrombin-activated tube is not acceptable.) Spin
down promptly and send 1.0 mL of plasma refrigerated in screw-capped,
round-bottom, plastic vial.
Note:    1. Indicate plasma on request form.
                  2. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).
                  3. If ordering electronically, no form is required with the
                      specimen. If not ordering electronically, please
                      complete and submit a "Microbiology Request Form"
                      (Supply T244) with the specimen.
 
Urine

1.0 mL from a random urine collection. Send specimen refrigerated
in a screw-capped, sterile container. Maintain sterility and forward
promptly.
Note:    1. Indicate urine on request form.
             2. Label specimen appropriately (urine).
