Collection Info

  Platelet poor plasma required.  Spin specimen with a
Sure-Sep II or double spin by first spinning and removing
plasma, then spin plasma again, removing and freezing
immediately.
Test may be performed on patients on stabilized oral anticoagulant,
heparin and low molecular weight heparin therapy.

Activated Protein C resistance, functional clotting test.

Clinical Utilities
Screening test for Factor V Leiden defect which is the most common cause of inherited thrombophilia. An abnormal test should be followed up with Factor V Leiden R506Q gene mutation.
