Specimens with pH lower than 5.0 will be rejected. 2. 24-hour collections are preferred, but second- morning voided and random specimens are also acceptable. Urine Preservative Collection Options Note: The addition of preservative or application of temperature controls must occur within 4 hours of completion of the collection.
