Collection Info

  If washing cells at your facility, please follow these instructions.
1. Draw blood in green-top (heparin) tube(s), and process 5.0 mL of 
    heparinized whole blood as follows:
    A. Place on wet ice immediately.
    B. Transfer to a 12-mL graduated centrifuge tube.
    C. Centrifuge for 10 minutes at 2,000 rpm.
    D. Record volume of packed cells.
    E. Discard supernatant plasma.
    F. Wash erythrocytes 3 times by resuspension in 5.0 mL of cold
       0.9% saline.
    G. Resuspend packed cells to a volume of 5.0 mL with 0.9% saline.
 2. Send washed erythrocyte suspension frozen in plastic vial
    on dry ice.
NOTE:  VOLUME OF PACKED CELLS AND TOTAL VOLUME OF ERYTHROCYTE SUSPEN-
       SION (RED CELLS + SALINE) ARE REQUIRED ON REQUEST FORM FOR
       PROCESSING.    DO NOT WRITE SUSPENSION INFORMATION ONLY ON THE
       TRANSFER TUBE.  IT MUST BE INCLUDED ON THE REQUEST FORM.
