Collection Info

   1.  Prechill two 5.0-mL lavender-top (EDTA) tubes at 4 degrees C 
    before drawing the sample.
2.  Draw the 2 prechilled lavender-top (EDTA) tubes, and process 
    4.0 mL of EDTA plasma from a fasting patient as follows:
    A. After drawing sample, chill EDTA tubes in wet ice for 10 
       minutes.
    B. Centrifuge in a refrigerated centrifuge or in chilled
       centrifuge cups.
    C. Immediately after centrifugation, remove EDTA plasma,
       place in Mayo Medical Laboratories' plastic transport
       vial and freeze.
3.  Send specimen frozen in plastic vial on dry ice.
