SUBMIT ONLY 1 OF THE FOLLOWING SPECIMENS: Plasma Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s). Spin down, separate plasma from erythrocytes within 2 hours of draw and send 3.0 mL of heparinized plasma. Serum Draw blood in plain, red-top tube(s). Spin down, separate serum from erythrocytes within 2 hours of draw, and send 3.0 mL of serum. NOTE: 1. SST tube is not acceptable. 2. Indicate plasma or serum on request form. 3. Label specimen appropriately (plasma or serum). |
