Collection Info

  1. 10 mL from a 24-hour urine collection.
2. Collect in clean, plastic urine container(s) with no metal 
   cap(s) or glued insert(s).
3. Add 20 mL of 6 N HCl at start of collection.
   A. If 24-hour volume is markedly decreased (<300 mL/24 hours),
      indicate exact volume of 6 N HCl added.
4. Adjust pH to 1.5-2.0 with 6 N HCl and mix well before
   aliquot is taken.
5. Send specimen in a clean, plastic aliquot container with
   no metal cap or glued insert. See "Metals Analysis - 
   Collection and Transport" for complete instructions.
6. Send specimen refrigerated (keep specimen cool with frozen coolant
   April-October, refrigerated coolant November-March).
NOTE: 24-HOUR VOLUME IS REQUIRED ON REQUEST FORM FOR PROCESSING.

Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) Emission Spectroscopy Includes calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, and zinc. NOTE: If not specified, an order for a metals screen will be processed as a heavy metals screen.
