DO NOT use this test for infant's under 6 months of age as elevated levels of HgB F can cause false negative results. Hemoglobin electrophoresis is available for these patients. Please order MGHS test code HGBEL (Hemoglobin Electrophoresis Cascade Level 1, performed at Mayo Medical Laboratory).
