Draw blood in a royal blue-top (EDTA) Monoject trace element blood
collection tube--product#8881-307022(Supply T183), and send 2.5 mL
(pediatric: 1.0 mL) of EDTA whole blood (GREEN-TOP [HEPARIN] TUBE IS
NOT ACCEPTABLE). It is important that the specimen be obtained,
processed, and transported according to instructions, "Metals
Analysis - Collection and Transport."

Inductively Coupled Plasma/Mass Spectrometry (ICP/MS) Includes arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury NOTE: Mayo Medical Laboratories offers both an essential element screen and a heavy metals screen. In the case when a metals screen is ordered, we will assume this to be a heavy metals screen request. In case we have misinterpreted your request, the specimen will be retained for 2 weeks following testing during which time you may call and request other testing.
