Clinical Utilities
Thioridazine (Mellaril) is a phenothiazine used to treat psychotic
disorders (e.g., schizophrenia). It is also used to treat patients having
multiple mood disorders including depression, anxiety, tension, sleep
disturbances, and fears. The antipsychotic activity is thought to be
attributable in part to blockage of dopamine receptors in the central
nervous system.
