Collection Info

  Draw blood in either a plain, red-top tube or an SST tube. Spin 
down and send 1.0 mL (pediatric: 0.2 mL) of serum refrigerated 
(keep specimen cool with frozen coolant April-October, refrigerated 
coolant November-March) in a plastic, screw-capped, round bottom vial.
sterility and forward promptly. Incidence of influenza virus 
and usually occurs only from November to May.
NOTE:  Indicate influenza virus A on request form.

Influenza A, IgM: <1:10
The presence of IgM class antibodies or a fourfold or greater rise in
paired sera IgG titer indicates recent infection.  The presence of
demonstrable IgG generally indicates past exposure and immunity.
