Component Information

Collection Notes
1. Submit specimens in sterile, leak proof container. 
2. Acceptable specimens: 
A. CSF and Tissue should be shipped within 24 hours of collection. 
B. Biopsy material should be kept moist by placing it between 
pieces of sterile gauze premoistened with a small amount of 
sterile saline. 
C. Respiratory (including sputum) genital. 
3. Unacceptable specimens: 
A. Leaking containers 
B. Frozen specimens 
C. Stools 
4. Provide provide source of specimen as set up and processing is 
dependent upon this information. Ship ambient overnight. 

Additional Comments
1.If culture is positive, it will reflex to SLI#5323 Fungus ID Mould or SLI#5324 Fungus ID Yeast, or SLI#5633 Fungus ID by DNA Probe (Histoplasma, Blastomyces, Coccidioides) at an additional charge.
