  | Transportation: If delayed transport, Inoculate media and send as Biobag CO2 Transport system with Thayer-Martin and chocolate plates. Specimen: Body fluid, discharge, pus, swab of genital lesions, urethral discharge (Send fresh specimen when available for men), sediment of first 10ul of centrifuged urine collected at least 2 hours after last micturition or first few drops of urine voided into a sterile cup for "first voided urine specimen" for asymptomatic males, or first void overnight urine, centrifuged. |

The plates and the Biobag system (TM) are available upon request from the Marquette General Hospital Microbiology Section. Inoculate the Choc plate first and the Thayer-Martin plate second; place both plates and the Co2 generator in the Biobag; zip lock the bag; then break the generator and transport to Marquette General Hospital Laboratory.
