Adult: Routine Two, 10 mL SPS yellow top vacutainers Pediatric: One, 3 mL SPS yellow top vacutainers NOTE: Time date of draw must be given on the appropriate form. Indicate on request form any antibiotics the patient is on when order is placed. Inpatient: Order a blood culture draw. This will allow the lab phlebotomy staff to go to draw cultures. It is recommended blood cultures be ordered at least x2. Reference Lab: Media for blood cultures are available from the MGH laboratory. |
