The salary program referred to as TotalComp is an effort to update our compensation plan based upon the principles of providing a system that pays our employees competitively according to the market, as well as addressing internal equity.
Department heads and supervisors have been meeting with employees to address questions and concerns about the program. Each job was evaluated by a committee of managers based on criteria in the following areas: skill, responsibility, working conditions and physical efforts.
Based on this, each current job was placed into one of 18 grades. This is the "platform" of TotalComp program. Building blocks such as how employees will move through the ranges, transfers, promotions, etc., will round out the program. They are being finalized.
This much-needed program will ensure that compensation will be fair and equitable and allow MGH to remain competitive in the marketplace.
