MGH has joined the ranks of healthcare providers nationwide by formally designating a customer service representative. As the result of recent organizational changes, Laurie Neldberg-Weesen, RN, has been named Director of Customer Service.

She had served as director of community relations and marketing the last five years.

"We are now pursuing the ultimate in advertising: satisfied customers are the best ambassadors we can have to spread the work about the good work we do at Marquette General Hospital," Laurie said.

Laurie said the clinical excellence patients have come to expect will remain the focus of activities. However, the need for a cultural renaissance will be in store for the future as customer service to patients and families becomes a hallmark of MGH, she said.

"Comfort, convenience and a friendly staff are necessary to set ourselves apart from other providers," she said. "Look for enhancements in escort service, parking and guest relations."

In addition to customer service, Laurie will direct the admitting department's 23 employees at MGH and Peninsula Medical Center. Assuring smooth access to hospital services and the collection of essential patient information will be her primary function.

"I'm impressed by the development of procedures and systems that take into account our patients' needs," Laurie said.

Comments or suggestions regarding customer service or admitting are welcomed by calling Laurie at ext. 3251.
