MGH Rehab Services receives accreditation

MARQUETTE -- A series of programs offered at rehabilitation services at the Upper Peninsula Rehabilitation Center of Marquette General Hospital have received accreditation for three additional years.

The Medical Rehabilitation Programs and Occupational Rehabilitation Programs have each been accredited by CARF, the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission based in Tucson, Az.

Under the Medical Rehabilitation Programs, the Comprehensive Inpatient Category One (Adult) and Brain Injury Community Integrated Programs have been extended. For Occupational Rehabilitation Programs, the accreditation for the Work-Specific Occupational and Rehabilitation Programs Category One have been accredited.

The accreditation extends through May, 2000.

"This achievement is an indication of your organization's dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of people with disabilities and others in need of rehabilitation," said Donald E. Galvin, PhD, President/CEO of CARF. "Everyone involved in your organization can take pride in achieving accreditation."

Cathy Rebella, program director of Rehabilitation Services at the Upper Michigan Rehabilitation Center at MGH, said the accreditation enhances the respect and trust patients place in MGH.

"A CARF accreditation tells the consumers that the programs have demonstrated that they have substantially met nationally recognized standards," Rebella said. "It reinforces the patients' trust and confidence that our programs have made a commitment to enhancing the quality of services and that we are focusing on positive outcomes for the patients."

CARF will recognize MGH's accreditation in its listing of organizations with accredited programs.
