Cardiovascular Surgeon Bradford Blakeman, MD Joins UP Health System – Marquette

UP Health System – Marquette announces that Bradford Blakeman, MD will join our Heart & Vascular team as a cardiovascular surgeon. Through this partnership, 24/7 cardiovascular surgery services will be provided at UP Health System – Marquette. Joining Dr. Blakeman in this partnership are CV surgeons Juan Bonilla, MD, Jeffrey Silver, MD, and William Polito, MD.

UP Health System Hospitals Receive Chest Pain Center Accreditation

UP Health System hospitals have received full Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC). UP Health System – Marquette, Bell, and Portage received the official designation on December 30, 2016. UP Health System – Marquette also received Primary PCI Accreditation in addition to Chest Pain Center Accreditation.

LifePoint invests $1.9 million in new UPHS – Marquette cath lab

UP Health System – Marquette has completed installation of a new, $1.9 million catheterization laboratory (cath lab) made possible through an investment from Duke LifePoint Healthcare. At the heart of the lab is an Innova IGS 530 by GE Healthcare. This state-of-the-art technology for cardiovascular and interventional imaging will enable the hospital to perform cardiac catheterizations to quickly diagnose a number of heart conditions and immediately begin treatment. Along with the new equipment came a complete update of the room around it, including movable storage cabinets, piping, gas, HVAC, and an extensive remodel.

Jessica Haloskie, MD joins UP Health System - Marquette Family Medicine

Dr. Haloskie received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia, PA. She is board certified in Family Medicine, Acupuncture and is completing her fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, University of Arizona in Tuscon, AZ.

Kevin McDowell, PsyD joins UP Health System – Marquette Brain & Spine Center as Health Psychologist

UP Health System – Marquette welcomes Kevin McDowell, PsyD, to its neuropsychology team at the Brain & Spine Center. Dr. McDowell received his Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from the Florida School of Professional Psychology, and his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Northern Michigan University. He joins UP Health System – Marquette from the University of South Florida where he held the position of clinical psychologist.

UP Health System – Marquette Recognized by March of Dimes for Giving More Babies a Healthy Start in Life

UP Health System – Marquette has been recognized by the March of Dimes for its work to give babies a healthier start in life. UP Health System – Marquette earned the recognition after successfully reducing the number of elective inductions and cesarean deliveries performed before 39 completed weeks of pregnancy to less than one percent (1%). This is a tremendous accomplishment, and one that will give more babies the right start in life, the March of Dimes says.

UP Health System – Marquette Receives CMS 3-Star Rating

July 29, 2016 - MARQUETTE - UP Health System Market President James Bogan announced today that Brian Sinotte, FACHE, has been appointed to serve as chief executive officer (CEO) for UP Health System – Marquette, effective August 15, 2016. Sinotte comes to Marquette from Maria Parham Medical Center (MPMC), a Duke LifePoint Healthcare facility in Henderson, N.C., where he served as CEO since February 2015.

Yazan Khouri, MD joins UP Health System - Marquette Heart & Vascular

Dr. Khouri brings specialized training in transfemoral and transapical approaches to transcatheter valve procedures and extensive experience serving as the Chief Resident of the Internal Medicine Department at Providence Hospital, of the St. John Providence Health System, and is a member of the American College of Cardiology, Michigan State Medical Society, American College of Physicians, and The Jordan Medical Association.

Dr. Mellana brings advanced and specialized knowledge of the heart to UP Health System – Marquette, including experience in atrial fibrillation ablation, atrial flutter ablation, ventricular tachycardia ablation, ICD and PPM implants, and cardiac resynchronization therapy. Dr. Mellana served as the Pacemaker Clinic Coordinator at Westchester Medical Center.
