Get Physical
— Inactive people are
nearly twice as likely to develop
heart disease as active people. A
brisk 10 minute walk, 3 times a
day, (30 minutes per day) may help
prevent heart disease.
EAT
YOUR BROCCOLI
One of
the top contenders in the
category of “most healthful foods” is
definitely broccoli. Those little green
trees have the power to reduce your
risk of many types of cancer, minimize
risk for cataracts, and reduce your risk
for strokes.
Broccoli is a member of the cruciferous
family named for the shape of
the flower that is part of the plant.
Also in the cruciferous family are
cauliflower, kale, cabbage, brussel
sprouts, and bok choy. So, if broccoli
isn’t one of your favorites, any one of
these vegetables also have been shown
to have some cancer fighting powers.
Broccoli is also a nutrient powerhouse,
which explains all the health
benefits! Ounce for ounce, broccoli
has more vitamin C than an orange
and as much calcium as a glass of
milk. Broccoli is also rich in vitamin
A, and has more fiber than a slice of
whole grain bread.
So, load up on fruits and vegetables,
but make sure broccoli always
has a spot on your plate!
