President

Pat is the President of the Marquette General Foundation, having come on board early in 2008. Pat’s working career includes more than 15 years in philanthropy within United Way agencies, an international organization, and in two hospital systems in Michigan. After moving from Saginaw in junior high school, Pat grew up in Sault Ste. Marie. He’s a graduate of both Central Michigan University and Michigan State University. Pat is excited about sharing the many great experiences available across the U.P. with his wife and four daughters. “Since a very young age, I’ve always considered the U.P. home. Having this opportunity to help Marquette General accomplish all we can for patients and their families makes it easy to come to work every day.” In his spare time, Pat enjoys hunting, fishing, cross country skiing and reading.

Pam Benton —
Operations and
Special Events Manager

Pam is the Operations and Special Events Manager of the Marquette General Foundation. Pam began her career at Marquette General in 1979 in the Personnel Office and advanced through the organization to reach her current Foundation position. Pam joined the Foundation to become part of building something that will help Marquette General achieve its greatest potential. She strongly believes that everyone in the U.P. deserves to have the very best health care available right here close to home. Pam holds a bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University. She and her husband, have two sons. “The Foundation holds so much promise,” Pam says. “These are very exciting times for Marquette General, and I am very pleased to be part of it.”

Jim LaJoie —
Planned Giving-Major
Gifts Manager

Jim has been an employee at Marquette General for nearly 14 years. He joined the Foundation in February, 2006, after working as the Media Coordinator in the Community Relations and Marketing Department at Marquette General.

Jim earned a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Northern Michigan University.

An Upper Peninsula native and self-proclaimed sports “junkie,” Jim enjoys reading, camping, swimming, playing basketball and racquetball, coaching youth basketball, and spending quality time with his wife, Kim, and three children.   “I really love meeting and interacting with people,” Jim said. “Philanthropy plays a very important role in health care. I’m extremely proud to be on the Foundation Team.”

Kristi Dahlstrom —
Database Manager/Prospect Researcher

Kristi is the Database Manager/Prospect Researcher for the Marquette General Foundation. Kristi began working at Marquette General Hospital in 1989 and has worked with the MGH Women’s & Children’s Center since its development in 1991. Her strong background in assisting new and growing Upper Peninsula families compliments her desire to continue making a meaningful difference for all patients in the U.P. Kristi, her husband and daughter are all U.P. natives and enjoy golfing, camping and taking motorcycling trips. “The Foundation will help ensure the future of quality health care for all U.P. residents,” Kristi says, “and I’m delighted to be a part of its mission.”

Sarah Janda —
Executive Assistant

Sarah is the Executive Assistant for the Marquette General Foundation.

A native of Escanaba, she brings to Marquette General eight years experience in grant management, project implementation and volunteer coordination in the field of natural resources. “Nearly everyone has a story of how they or someone they know has been impacted by the quality health care that Marquette General Health System provides,” said Sarah, who joined the Foundation in July 2009. “I’m excited to share those stories and be a part of the Marquette General Foundation Team.”

In her free time, Sarah enjoys gardening, hiking, and walking her dog with her husband, Tim.
