Closed-captioning TV for cardiac rehab gifted by anonymous donors

To show appreciation for a challenging job well done, a local couple has helped provide a new, enhanced closed-captioning television for the Cardiac Rehab Gym at Marquette General Hospital.

“We wanted to show our appreciation to the staff. Most folks do not like to exercise, but they actually make it almost fun,” the anonymous donors said. “They are caring, dedicated and motivating professionals who really care about the people who come to the gym.”

The couple was introduced to the cardiac gym by a friend who worked in the department.

“Our health was in need of a tune-up and this answered our need,” the couple said. “The fact the cardio gym was a part of Marquette General Health System assured us it was top quality.”

While exercising, the couple said it was sometimes difficult to hear the volume on the existing television set. Thus, they felt a new TV with closed-captioning capability would be a real benefit to those who use the gym.

“It is satisfying for us to know others are enjoying the TV,” they said. “With the closed captioning ability, it’s now possible to exercise and enjoy the television programs at the same time. When we’re in the gym we personally enjoy it and feel it helps make the time exercising go by faster. We are honoring a few but it benefits many.”

Larry Bergwall, Director of Cardiac Rehab at Marquette General, said the new TV has been a welcome addition to the gym.

“Those exercising really enjoy it,” Bergwall said. “Our entire cardiac rehab staff is very thankful for this generous gift.”
