Ice Breaker benefits Marquette General Foundation
The Bark River Lions Clubs recently wrapped up its very successful Ice Breaker event in Delta County.
The Lions parked an Icebreaker race truck on Lake Michigan and sold raffle tickets, with the first- and second-place winners being those who came closest to correctly predicting the time and date when the truck would fall through the ice.
The Club honored the first- and second-place winners at a media event at the Island Resort and Casino in Harris. In addition, the club made a $1,000 gift to the Marquette General Foundation as part of its $15,000, three-year pledge to the Marquette General Foundation for the Accelerating the Future Capital Campaign.
Scott Kwarciany, left, race committee treasurer for the Bark River Lions, presents the check to Jim LaJoie of the Marquette General Foundation. (The truck “officially” fell through the ice at 9:02 p.m. on April 10!) For more information on the upcoming races this summer put on by the Bark River Lions, visit www.barkriveroffroad.com.
